DwtS 8, Week 10: Results

With one week left, the only question that remained was whether Ty's fan support could propel him into the DwtS 8 finals.

Musical guest Raphael Saadiq kicked off the night, accompanied by his own dancers.

The judge's encore went to Shawn & Mark for their Tango. Then former DwtS champs Helio Castroneves, Brooke Burke and Drew Lachey offered some generic comments about this season's final four.

The next performance of the night was part of the pro dancer competition. This week, finalists Mayo Alanen and Anna Demidova performed two dances with one of the current DwtS pros. Mayo was first up, dancing a Tango with Kym Johnson.

Anna was next, performing a Quickstep with Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The competition took a break for the winning routine in ABC's online Design-a-Dance contest, a Quickstep performed by Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, Julianne Hough and Lacey Schwimmer.

Then Mayo & Kym were back to Cha Cha Cha.

Anna & Maks returned with a Samba.

The judges unanimously favored Anna's routines, with Len threatening to "show [his] bum in the supermarket" if she doesn't come back next season.

Finally, it was time to announce the results. Gilles & Cheryl and Shawn & Mark were told they were safe.

Ultimately, Melissa & Tony wer saved, and Ty & Chelsie were let go. I wonder how close they really were to making it into the finals.

I don't know for certain how close it was, but I can say the the dialidol predictions for dwts had Shawn in last. I
ve never kept track to see whether they're usually close or not.

Hey all sorry I missed the chats this week. What did anyone think of the Design-a-dance? I really didn't do much for me, if they hadn't said it was a quickstep I never would have figured it out.
I'm sad to see Ty go in that I will miss his drive and honesty, I know he's not the first to state he stayed over a better dancer (L'il Kim), but coming from him it actually sounded genuine.

The dances by Anna D and Mayo were the highlights of the show. Once again the judges irritated us with their preemptive declarations that Anna D should return. Why make it a vote if you don't want opinion? Mayo was elegance personified. And what was CAI's odd remark about having to wear shorts like Mark??? What a rude setup for Mayo who ended up my favorite.

I loved Ty and Chelsie all the way to their finish. He's truly a class act that DWTS could use more of!!! After this Season of folks in rehab and former bunnies, Ty Murray was the better man by far (except for his darling stiff dances). Glad they introduced him to those of us unaware of bull riding.

I'll miss Ty, but the proper three are in the finals. Now I don't really care who wins...unless you count that I get a bit miffed by everyone on the show seemingly assuming Gilles will win. They don't come out and say it, but anything he does is supposedly perfect! I'm tempted to put all my votes on Melissa just because of that.

I didn't think the Design a Dance was "all that" either. I wonder who choreographed it? The costumes were the ones that I voted for (the others were really excrable, and some even unproduceable) but, though they weren't truly groundbreaking, they were more subtly designed than the finished product. I wish that they hadn't removed the designs from the website so you could see what I meant.

I really enjoyed watching both Mayo and Anna. For class, I'd go for Mayo. His tango was so elegant. Anna certainly has a bit more charisma on-screen though. I'm so ready to pinch off CA's head. Her judging is probably the most subjective and personality-driven of the three. Get off of the feeling CA
