My Ox Is Broken

The latest Paula Abdul-Dancing with the Stars rumor is that ABC offered her a development deal at the network contingent upon her participation in DwtS 10. Pure DwtS's Princess Heidi says of Paula: "She's tiny and she's a ringer. Which means, she'll dance with Mark Ballas."

People posted this news item: "Dancing's Cheryl Burke and Model Boyfriend Split." So long, model boyfriend. We hardly knew ye.

TV Guide Network will air a Survivor 20 preview special on February 11, hosted by Survivor Samoa winner Natalie White.

EW's Dalton Ross is preparing us for the new season with on-site interviews with Survivor 20 contestants, including a priceless interview with Coach. He has no chance to win, but, man, I want Coach to stick around as long as possible.

CBS revealed the cast of The Amazing Race 16 last week. Because young fit couples almost always win, my money's on either Brent & Caite, Dan & Jordan or Jordan & Jeff.

CBS renewed Survivor for two more seasons and The Amazing Race for one more, all of which will air during the 2010-2011 season. That would reduce the number of TAR seasons per broadcast season from the current two to one.

I'm cool with that. As much fondness as I have for TAR, it's not as exciting as it used to be. I watch it for the destinations and the challenges, not for the teams. Formulaic casting has lead to predictable results, making it a glorified travel show. I'd much rather have one good season each year than two mediocre seasons.

Okay Kathy, are you taking my $1 bet this season? I put my dollar on Russell to win it all! I am picking him because the other contestants don't know he can find hidden immunity idols with no clue. That alone is worth my dollar. You in? :) I can provide a 10% good-faith payment if need be.

Haha, IF that rumor were true, Paula would have no reason not to take ABC's offer; she's been trying to get on DWTS, they'd give her a development deal and still let her do the X-factor for another network? It doesn't sound at all realistic to me, but if it were actually true... well, networks usually don't give out deals that good, so I'm sure it's not.

I'm a little scared for the upcoming TAR, I really hated having Rob and Amber on there, and this season there's a couple from Big Brother. I want TAR to rebound from weaker seasons, not go downhill.

Amy -- I'm in! No 10% good-faith payment needed. ;-) My dollar is on a sleeper pick -- Candice.

Jen -- NBC just paid Conan $35 million to not do a show, so stranger things have happened. If ABC's offer to Paula is real, she'd have to take it, right? She'd have a cross-network empire! I just don't know if Fox would agree to the terms.

As for TAR, the Big Brother stunt casting is lame. Why doesn't CBS recruit contestants from The Price Is Right if they're so interested in network cross promotion?

Casting Caite "Everywhere, Like, Such As" Upton is another lame stunt, but I do hope she's a good competitor. It'll just be hard for her to redeem her image when her every move is underscored with the "doh-dee-doh" music TAR uses whenever a contestant does something dumb. I'm afraid they just cast her to make fun of her.
