Your Ox Is What?
My Ox Is Broken is a TV-centric site named in honor of The Amazing Race 5's
Colin Guinn, who, during
his season, unintentionally provided some of the greatest moments in television history.
In case you've never seen it, I recommend a quick viewing of the classic Colin vs. Ox (and Colin vs. his
girlfriend) video clip:
The CBS site has
some alternate footage of the ox confrontation, in
RealPlayer format. (It's the second video in the linked series.)
For more details on what inspired us to create this site, read
our inaugural article.
Why We're Here (And Why You Should Be, Too)
At My Ox Is Broken, we want to occupy a niche other sites have left vacant. Sites like
Television Without Pity and
TVGasm are great at what they do, and the TV-watching
community is better for having them around.
But that's okay. We don't want you to choose us or them. We hope you'll
want to read us in addition to them.
Here's what's in it for you...
We cover some shows that other sites can't devote space to. We keep our recaps
short enough that you can finish them in a few minutes, yet long enough to keep you
from missing out on any major happenings. And we often
have our articles up the same night that the show airs. If you missed Monday's
episode of Dancing with the Stars, you can usually check our recap first thing Tuesday morning
and be done reading before your boss catches you slacking off.
Who We Are
Kathy Gibson
I'm My Ox Is Broken's owner and main writer. I started the site in July, 2005, after
missing an episode of Rock Star: INXS and realizing there wasn't a site
that recapped it to my liking. When not covering TV, I do videogame reviews and technical copywriting for
various websites. If you live in the Chicago suburbs, you might have spotted my byline in a few of the papers.
As of October, 2007, I'm the Bollywood film reviewer for the Naperville Sun. (How's that for a niche?)
Greg Gibson
My husband, Greg, designed and developed the site, its blogging system, and its database from scratch.
He also edits many of the articles that get posted.
Through sheer force of will, he has learned to pretend that he enjoys watching ballroom dancing.
